Hello all,

I'm so excited I'm getting my first car! well its been a long time coming as I'm 36 but needs must.

The above mentioned car is the one i have decided on. could I have any comments or tips regarding the running of this vehicle or problems you have experienced? or If you know of any/see any for sale in the hants to London area let me know (up to £2000)

I have seen many and prices seem to have no rhyme or reason! The same registration can fluctuate by thousands but have no discernable differences, mileage, features etc

I have seen an advert locally (the price is in the lower end of the range) but I have an odd email back from the seller

The car is still for sale. It is in perfect conditions, has never been involved in an accident and it never give me problems.has only covered 22,500 miles.HPI Clear,Full Service History.

For avoid further confusion I mention that for some time I live abroad and the car is here with me.The reason for i sell it is because i have just moved here with the job and i want to buy a new house here.

I am the only owner of the car and i want only £1,800.I also agree to bear the total shipping taxes and insurance for the car.

I take it this is a scam?

Many thanks for your help.

    Its a scam.
  • to me even 2k for a legit smart does seem a bit too cheap for a smart, let alone some dodgy one!

If you don't have much driving experience I wouldn't spend too much on a first car, you need to practice in a banger for a year or two. You can get some tidy little cars for 2k these days

One of the oldest scams going....avoid.
  • They will ask for payment via Western Union or similar, and the car will never materialise...

Don't be emailing people about cars for sale, tel. them and speak to them personally. Don't hand any money over until you are satisfied that the seller is genuine and you are happy with the car. Most people who are trying to sell their car will try to be as accomodating as possible. In my experience cars that are well priced genuine bargains don't hang about long enough for emails to pass to and fro they usually go with a telephone call and the first genuine buyer. I have no opinions on the smart car as I have never owned one or know anybody that has, but I did once consider a smart four four.
