She says she spent 2 hours filling a form in & in her words im knackered after that! Not paid any arrangement fees that i know of, we should see what happens over the next week or so.Milliewilly wrote: »I don't know of ANY lender who will lend on benefit income. The simple answer is she wont get a mortgage. Saying an application is in is a bluffing tactic. Has she paid any arrangement fees / valuation fees??0 -

two whole hours! Perhaps she feels she should get a mortgage just for that intensive time spent!!!
But - family is a tough thing to deal with... there is only so long that you can let people get away with things at your expense - but you still love 'em...0 -
The latest is she says they came to do the valuation/survey today, she only applied for the morgage last friday!0

It's family which to me is more important than any amount of money. I currently own part of a house that our family bought for my brother as he lost everything through his selfish behaviour and became homeless.
The absolutely critical difference here is that in your case, you made an active decision to help your brother, which is admirable not just in terms of the generosity but also because he seems to have responded to that generosity in a positive manner.
In the OP's case she has made no choice - her sister is trying to force her to subsidise her.
I can very much understand why someone would choose to provide support in the former case and deny it in the latter.0 -

Not sure who to contact regarding the surveyor- its supposed to be hsbc but i believe she probably had an estate agent round to value it! may ring a few and see what they say!!0

Wouldn't flog yourself to death trying to contact someone who may have valued or surveyed the property. Within a few weeks, your sister will either be able to provide you with a copy of the survey and valuation documents, plus a written mortgage offer in principle, or not.0
