It is getting to the time of year with the nights drawing in and the clocks going back and the temperature dropping that we all wish to hibernate in our homes, so a word to the wise so you are not left off supply suddenly and have to sit in the cold unable to cook dinner whilst you wait for your Gas supplier to send one of their metering asset management engineers out to put a new battery in......................check it now - is it flashing at you saying battery or is the battery symbol flashing? if so call the number on your gas card or if no number on the card find the telephone number for your gas supplier in the telephone book or at yell.com and give them a call now.

That way you will only be off gas supply for the time it takes to change the battery rather than the 4 hrs they have to send someone out to you.

If you do not know who your supplier is call 0870 608 1524 to find out and keep the telephone number for them safe such as on the fridge door or notice board or on your phone for such events as failed battery or meter faults.

Good advice lemontart, very useful. I don;t have a prepayment meter but I'm sure it's much appreciated!

    Absolutely good advice.
We all know that any battery runs down quicker in the cold, these batteries are just the same.

Thanks for that also make sure you know who your supplier is and their contact number - the number is often on the back of the card for the meter - if you do not know who your supplier is call 0870 608 1524 to find out and keep the details safe just in case also call this number to get the contact details for your supplier or look under utilities in your telephone book.
