A couple of hours ago I would have suggested a glass of wine, but I had one and its made me feel ill!

Think its stress, as ex-employer filed a defence at the last minute! Gulp. Just waiting to hear what he has said now.

Anyway next suggestion is a book. I am reading Save Karyn - a shopaholics journey to debt and back. Hilarious and could have been written about me.

(however I suggest that you get it from library - that is 50p - so you have £4.50 left).

hmmmmm. If it was me either clothes from ebay or a chinese.

  • Hello,

Hmmmm £5 - some suggestions from me -

*Buy some yummy (local) strawberries and other fruit and whizz them up into a full on smoothie to give you a great kick start, packed full of vitamins for the day

*If you are crafty, could you buy some (cheap) material and make yourself some shorts or a skirt for the summer?

*Could you buy some ingredients and make a cake?

*Buy some cheap plants or seeds and plant in your garden/window box/pot and get joy from all summer long when they flower?

*Go for a cup of tea and a bun with a friend and have a right good old natter.

Have fun spending! Keep us updated with what you spent your fortune on!

10p mix up. Since you ask and obviously dont know is an array of 1/2p, 1p and 2p sweeties at 70s prices. Or it could be what you want it to be! What about a quater of lemon bon-bons?

I do like to do what Queen.B has suggested and have a good wander with my cash and see what I can have (though I would immediately halve my funds by going into town - £2.20 for the bus...)

You mentioned you love make-up - have you seen the coupon in the back of the current Boots magazine for a Natural Collection lipstick for 99p? Worth asking for perfume samplers while you're in there too :)

With no offence meant to the previous posters who've mentioned buying a book - never buy when you can borrow for free... :o

I like pick and mix as a treat - but not the edible kind. Our branch of Waitrose has a great flower section with prepacked bouquets and a wall of individually priced blooms. I tend to buy fabulous individual pieces to put alone in stem vases or make up my own bouquet with a prepared pack as a starting point and my own choices to individualise it. Not difficult to run some way beyond £5 though...

Debenhams and House of Fraser both have big sale days today - a good time to pick up a choice thing for use at home. (I am building the most gradual of dinner settings - so far I have two dinner plates, two dessert plates and two tea plates).

I hope you enjoy your spending spree however you choose to use it :D

No, rhubarb and custard - the square ones with the flavours diagonally across them.... yum yum
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
