Amazon Woes

On a credit card statement that I received a few weeks ago, as well as an entry from Amazon that I expected for a DVD purchase that I had made (and received) there was another very similiarly priced entry, alledgedly from Amazon but titled slightly differently, that I suspected might have been some sort of scam. I wrote to my credit card to mention it but unfortunately i got the entries the wrong way round in my letter causing the card to withdraw funds back from Amazon. They then emailed me asking to make alternative payment arrangements. Anyway I thought I had this sorted, after phone calls to Amazons foreign based call centre and a fax sent to explain the situation (they email you but you can't email back - ludicrous!). Amazon even emailed me to say my account had been reinstated to say my account had been reopened but it still hasn't. Now I've had another email asking for paynemt for an unpaid item but everything I have ordered recently has been paid for according to my credit card statement. So I ring them again to ask which item is alledgedly not paid for but the call centre can not check my account as it has been blocked!!!! You would think they would be able to check! They have asked me to fax them a copy of my credit card statement but I have refused as because as far as I am concerned it contains my private information on purchases that are nothing to do with Amazon. I asked for a phone number to contact from whom I can get some sense or a postal address to write to. She gave me an 0845 number that turned out to be a fax number. Does anybody have contact details for a department in Amazon that can use some common sense and help me or should I just forget it. Thanks

If I'm asked for a copy of my bank/credit card statement, I always white out any information I don't want them to have such as account number etc (leave last 4 digits as identifier on cc statement), as for purchases, it would make no difference to them what they see, so long as their items are there, probably best not to white out too many though as it may start to look fraudulent. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
