Asking for a refund, how long should I wait for a reply?

I bought an item of jewellery and it said in the auction "used but still in excellent condition"
So I recieved it and opened the box to find the ring is slightly discolored, covered in scratches, and the silver round the back is all coming away. It was a swarovski ring, so I took it into one of their shops and asked how old the ring would have to be for the silver to start coming off. Girl examined the ring and as they still sell them she brought one out and you could tell straightaway that the ring I had bought was fake! Wrong shade of silver and the main stone was a different shape. She also said the silver wouldnt be peeling off either.
So I sent the seller a message, not being nasty in anyway might I add, just saying I was disapointed with my purchase and I do believe it is a fake and its in really bad condition and I would like to send it back and get a refund.
I sent the message on monday and I have not recieved a reply yet. Obviously I know there could be various reasons as to why they havnt gotten the chance to reply or if they have checked their messages.
How long would be a reasonable time to leave it before sending them another message? The following monday? And what should I do if they dont reply to that one either?
Thanks :j

open a dispute of item not as discribed (I think you can do fake item but check with the store that looked at it for them and see if they will validate your claim in writing as you will need to prove it is fake before paypal will find in your favour).

Thank you, I will wait till monday and see if they have replied first.
Or maybe they are avoiding replying to me but if there was a paypal claim against them it might make them reply to me?

Personally I wouldn't wait till monday. I'd open one now but as JM says see if the shop will validate its fakeness (is there such a word) If paypal rule with you that its fake you will not have to return it. You will just get refunded

you need to wait 7 days to open a dispute anyway, so if that deadline hasnt passed leave it till monday. disputes tend to get most sellers attention as alot of sellers believe paypal and ebay are biased toward buyers :)
But definitely ask the store if they would be kind enough to put in writing that your ring is fake as then when you open your dispute you have the proof infront of you ready for when paypal/ebay ask for it :)

Oooh and if there isn't a word like fakeness there should be :D

    Thank you for your replies!
I have started a dispute just saying I have had it compared to a new one and there is a few differences etc. Have sent the seller a message but as of yet had no reply. I will see what reply I get and also go into the shop at somepoint this week or next to see if they will put it in writing for me!
