  • Does anywhere here celebrate bonfire night???
There used to be bonfire sites where they asked people to 'donate' stuff eg. Ormeau Embankment - people abused it by dumping all sorts of rubbish like old suites, even kitchen sinks! Now the council seal it off coming up to the 12th.
  • Ni tend to celebrate Halloween with fireworks and we have our bonfires on 12 July. I wasn't aware of anywere in NI that celebrated the 5th November. Shows what I know.

We took down all hedges from round the front of our house back in the summer and have been gradually burning them in our log burning stove - should be enough to do us all winter!! If you have an open fire you'd need to be careful though as they are quite sparky!

I'd wait for a month or so if it's not evergreen and then it will be less bulky easier too burn and less smoke

All very useful folks, thank you!

The builder will dispose of it for us, but he reckons as soon as he turns up at the local dump they'll charge him a per load rate.

Might well burnt it. A few gallons of petrol and a saturday afternoon would hold some appeal!

At our Council dump they have separate skips for 'green' waste but imagine how many journeys you'll have to make.

, effectively it's free if you cut it all up and do a few runs to the dump and fire it in a green waste skip... depends the time and effort you wanna spend to save money really!
