We're pulling out around 200ft of hedging from the side of our new house, but whilst we can get the hedge dug out ok, we're aware that it could cost siginficantly to dispose of it, ie, i cant see the local council skips taking it.

Has anyone any ideas / advice on how to go about it?

How about hiring a shredder & turning it all to a mulch to use or add to the compost?

Its a really rough old hedge moreso than one made up of decent plants.

Erm Bonfire night is coming up, that's what I did when I removed 100ft of 50 yr old privet hedge in fact the whole village used to do a load of gardening in the run up to nov 5th.

I had great fun doing so as my removal method involved a length of chain and a landrover.

At our Council dump they have separate skips for 'green' waste but imagine how many journeys you'll have to make.

    Is there anywhere that doesn't?

I don't know of any local councils who don't have a fireworks display, but it's unlikely you'll see many bonfires as they're not very 'green' these days.
