Halifax Faster Payments - daily limits

Hi
Does anyone know what the current 'rules' are for the Halifax faster payments systems?
I was told in branch you could do up to £1000 as many times as you want (which I was a bit suspicious about).
The call centre said that there were no limits but not everything would go through so you wouldn't be able to tell before you tried to make the payment and therefore I should leave 3 days before a payment just to be sure.
The website doesn't say anything about a limit (but I suppose that might be to avoid fraud)
I tried today to do £1100 but it wouldn't let me. It did let me do £999.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

It seems to change all the time unfortunately0

The limit seems to have consistently been £1000 for the last few months. Sometimes the FP system is down, or the receiving account is not FP-enabled, and in those situations of course the payment won't be sent immediately.
Yes, you can make several FPs one after another to the same destination. But it *will* tell you before the payment goes whether it will be FP or not, and you can cancel it if not. Often if you cancel and try again in a few minutes, it will go FP.0 -
Thanks.
The other end is FP-enabled.
I transferred the money in and wanted to transfer it out to test the system. First I tried £100. No problem. Then £500. No problem. Then another £500. No FP. Then £399.99. No problem. So I could do £999.99 but not 2 x £500.0 -
I asked the daily limits in branch yesterday and was told £1500 - of course that doesn't mean its right!0

Yep, it's not entirely reliable. Some of the other banking systems are more predictable for FPs.
That said, the fact that they tell you whether it will be a FP or not *before the payment is sent* is very useful. I'm only aware of one other bank that does that (LTSB, which doesn't say it specifically - you have to know what language to look for! - and which is just re-introducing on-line FP, in a very unpredictable way so far).0 -
Just to be clear (well as clear as we can be) - is the daily limit (£1k or £1.5k) a total limit per day - or just a limit per each individual payment, i.e. theoretically could I do 2 x £1000?0

natwest and tesco also tell you before final confirmation whether it will be fast or slow. I assume RBS uses the same server software and will do the same.0 -

I've seen a post on here somewhere that suggests it might also be per (outgoing) account - if you have more than one account, and payment from one account would go slow, first transferring to another account and making the payment from there might go fast. But I've not had a chance to test this for myself.0 -
Thanks Psychic - that is something I had not thought of (and a good reason for having more than one account).
I suppose I will just have to practice FP transfers with all those spare thousands of pounds I have lying around in my account. :rotfl:0 -

It's per individual payment - I've transferred over £1000 many times, from the same account to the same account, with only a minute between the two transfers.0
