Does anyone know if there is anywhere that shows dissertations online. I've got access to Athens from home, but don't want to keep going into the research library over the summer - money saving as it costs me £14 on the train everytime.
I don't want to copy anything - just get a sense of the layout etc. So that once I've got my topic, Aims & Obkectives, I can start on the main research and literature review.
TIA

what subject are you doing?
i think there can be a huge difference between layouts depending on discipline. are there no guidelines in your course handbook because i'd have thought that there should be?!
i googled 'dissertation guidelines uk' and found this website:
http://final-year-projects.com/index.htm
it may be some use, but i would imagine that your uni will have some specific guidelines on word limits, spacing of text, type of referencing etc. if in doubt, email your course director and they should be able to help.:happyhear0 -
I'm doing Tourism. O know all about the handbook etc on layouts but I want to 'look' at dissertations if you know what I mean just to see how they flow etc -I can do all the fonts and laying out stuff.
Thanks foir the linkNoli nothis permittere te terere

Your department should have old dissertations you can have a look at - ours held a session where various samples wereshown to us, good and bad - really helped me get a feel of how I'd like mine laid out

You could try http://www.studentcentral.co.uk/ I have used them when I was doing my AVCE Health and Social care course. They are really good, but I think there is a small fee. Hope this helpsSam0

as linzibean said, there should be some in your dept....we had a tutorial where we had a load given to us, we had to look through them, guess approx grades, comment on good/bad points etc, but a selection of grades are kept each year for later students to look at.
Departmental ones will probably be the best bet as each dept / uni seems to have its own particular guidelines/expectations from students
depending on when its due to be handed in, could you just write it as well as you can now (or over summer, whenever) and then when your back at uni in autumn, go through 'tweaking' it to fit with what others have done? One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.
