It's not clear under what circumstances customers will be able to switch or not switch. Nor how payments will be collected and at what rate once the switch has been made.Changes that allow pre-payment meter customers to switch suppliers even if they have a debt on bills of up to £200 will be in place by January.

Thanks for the pointer - It seems our consumer champion Ofgem, has gone into battle - well a small skirmish anyway. So we are going to have clearer bills, Hooray. We going to get an annual statement reminding us of our right to Switch - could be good if it saves us from those annoying TV ads from U switch. Distributors can only charge the extra costs incurred on Card meter tariffs - who going to monitor this? But seems the effort of all this just wore out our champion before he could get around to the biggest !!!!-up in the 2002 Utilites Act -Imperial & Metric Gas meters0
