    If I was a garage fitting the computer thingamy bob (ECU) the first thing I would think to mention would be the price (given that they're very expensive). A garage that swaps an ECU to try get a car's emissions sorted out needs their head checking though. ECU's are usually either dead (car will not start) or perfectly fine. I suspect something rather simple is causing the emissions problem like a sensor wiring problem, that the garage has neglected to be able to find.
