Hi,
Could anyone tell me what the visual difference between Auto and Manual driving licence is. Is there a code or symbol on an auto licence to indicate the restriction?
I'll explain my reasons once I know the answer.
Thanks
Wendy

Code 106 according to this would mean it is automatic only

Thank you all for your replies.
The reason I was asking is a friend of mine took his test in an automatic after failing twice in a manual. The reason being was his theory was due to run out. He passed and got his licence.
I've compared this to my full licence and the only differences I can see are '01' for my glasses and '115' on his 'cos he must have ticked the organ doner box.
We both think he has been issued a full licence in error. What are the implications of this?
Surely questions will be asked if he tries to sit another test.
Are the DVLA records likely to also be incorrect?
He wants to buy a car but there aren't many autos about and he's not sure whether he should risk getting a manual.
Thanks

if he drives a manual car unacompanied he is knowingly commiting an offence, wether or not dvla made a mistake, best he gives them a ring to sort it out.
If as you say he has failed twice in a manual then he is incapable of driving one and therefore a danger to all aroundIMOJACAR

Thank you to everyone for your help.
He's decided that the best course of action is to call the DVLA so he can get the correct licence sent. Not worth the risk to keep his current one.
