In a nutshell, supplied (not our usual as our mechanic was away) Garage with a wheel bearing for our car, Garage fitted wheel bearing.
Within days we have noises from the front wheel. Within 3 weeks we realise bearing has failed. First thoughts are faulty bearing.
Car goes in to our usual mechanic today, he looks at it and tells us the wheel bearing has not been changed and is an old bearing. Our mechanic will put this in writing.
So, now what? We obviously want the cost of the original part as well as fitting refunding from the garage and are willing to go to court with this if necessary.
Any advice before we go down there?

incidentally, we have receipts from the garage stating the work done - replace wheel bearing.0

Is this the same garage? i.e. the garage that invoiced you being the same garage that your favoured mechanic works in?
Edit: reading it again, it appears to be two different garages.
If so, you first need to approach the garage that invoiced you, express your concerns and your wants and see what they say."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Does it say which side they replaced? May have fixed the other one?
I would just go down there and ask for the manager, don't speak to any joeys. Also ask your "real" mechanic to explain to you how he can tell it is old, you can then explain this to the new guy.0 -
Assuming all as you have stated this will get !!!!!!. Your man will get drawn in to a proffessional argument re his skills.
Please ensure he has the proffesional qualification/grade/nous to defend your caseI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
