Doormat for stopping mud

Hi all, I have a very hairy, very muddy beardie cross who loves nothing more than dragging half the garden into the house on his paws.
Can anyone recommend a good mat to trap mud - are these turtle mats really worth the money?
Thanks

Yes, I think turtle mats are worth the money. We have few, because we have a few doors, and a few dogs. They wash very well, and more importantly dry very quickly hung out, and don't slip too badly (only the greyhound has recently learned that she can surf up the hall on them if she gets them at the right angle, which is very annoying).0

These are exactly what I need. Where is the cheapest place to get them?0

Oooh pricey, just googled them. Aren't the JML ones any good? My doggy thought our mat was a puppy training mat and liked to pee on it
She never pees in the house but something must have attracted her to it as she'd do it every time it was put out. Now i just mop regularly, which is a pain but i leave a towel and the dogs get their paws wiped on coming in from the garden. Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I try and dry my dog before she comes in with a towel. I have even trained her to wait by the door until her lead is taken off. But sometimes it doesn't even seem that muddy out and she still manages to walk mud in!0

The plain coloured Turtle mats are not so expensive as the fancy patterned ones. I had a cheap version before...and it did not do anything so was a false economy0

Looks like a £40 mat for me then. Hope it's worth it. Can't find any discounts - does anyone know of any?0

Try ebay perhaps?0

So do we, but often one pushes through past another, and also, i can do it, my fairly elderly mother finds it hard.
What I sometimes to is lay a double layerd towel bay the door, and only open the door a tiny bit so they HAVE to walk on the towel, then I hold them there a moent, then let them walk n and the next one walk in. :rolleyes:0 -

Yep, the JML ones are very, very good, and they come in bigger than usual sizes too, which helps. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

I bought 3 extra large turtle mats recently and I love them. They wash really well and are very absorbent.
I bought one from this ebay seller: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400073095657&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
And 2 from Pet Planet who have them in their sale:

From speaking to other dog owners who have them, these mats last for ever so are worth the investment. They look really nice too.
You can but them for smooth or carpeted floors.
I had bought some cheap washable runners from B&Q but the backing came off after a few washes!
