Indian takeaway here too!! Its been a tradition for over 20 years. We make our own rice and our neighbours and any home alone friends come along too. I always serve special ice creams for dessert as I there are so many goodies for christmas day that we don't need yet another sweet dish hogging the fridge space!!

All my family go to the local pub for a meal, no messing up the kitchen or washing up afterwards!!! I do that much cooking & baking in the run up i dont think i could bear it on xmas eve,We go quite early, about 5.30 and as we've got little kids were back by about 7.30 to 8. Everyone else stays out a bit longer.

We usually have takeaway. But the other day we had chicken pie from the butchers where we get the turkey & we said we will have one of them with mash & peas!

I have small children and I'll be having reindeer shaped pasta and sauce. Ikea have their elk pasta (which looks like reindeers) and I know its a meal that my boys will eat without fuss, so that (a little bit early) and a Christmas film I think before bedtime.

Then I'll start peeling veg for Christmas day - oh and as a special treat they can have it on their knees in front of the TV (so I can set the table for Christmas lunch!!!!).
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

I'd go for the chilli con carne & spuds. You can freeze the leftover chilli (if there'll be any!). How about a lovely 1970's Black Forest Gateau for dessert? Go retro!!!! Serve Snowballs with a paper parasol & a cherry on a cocktail stick & Babycham!!

Proper (home made) Chicken chasseur - takes some preparing, but can be done well in advance, and is better for it tbh.

Serve with rice/mash/jacket pots - Scrumptious.

Oh and because you have to add a glass of wine - what better reason to finish the bottle off with friends & family

I'd do a couple of very large homemade pizzas - or make/buy individual bases and get your guests to put their own selection of toppings on which could be fun

Then a huge trifle for pudding, very easy to make
