Hi,
A laptop has beenoffered for sale, spec below.
Uses are - as a second computer in the home for internet access, games (nothing high tec, though), watching dvds on, taking away as a portable dvd player/pc combined etc.
I've very little knowledge of laptops, so any opinions would be gratefully received......in plain english if you can, lol !!

Not a great make, but fine as a occassional laptop for the uses you have described, I wouldn't go above £200.0

For the uses described, and with about £200 to spend, would you have any recommendations?

ye i wouldnt go above 200 myself, as brand new laptops are fairly cheap
nowadays... there is one of these going on ebay at the moment at £240..0 -
I agree (for what it's worth!) These won't run the new Windows Vista due next year (Home version), but XP (I assume it's Windows XP - if not, don't buy!?) should be fine for many years yet, I think.0
