Having a verucca burnt off at the doctors

Sorry for the gross topic, but my 4.5 DD has acquired a lovely verrucca on the end of her big toe. I took her to the doctors verrucca and wart clinic and he said he wouldn't freeze it/burn it off as it hurts quite a lot, so he gave me this little tube of stuff to put on twice a day for 6 weeks with the old pumice stone way.
Well its still there, actually seems to be getting bigger despite my efforts. Can anyone tell me how painful it is, would DD be in agony for hours or would it be short sharp but over quickly?
Many thanks.

I know you'd have to pay, but going to a chiropodist is by far and away a better way to get feet sorted.
A bit like teeth - Drs really don't 'do' feet very well at all.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I certainly wouldn't put my 4.5 DD through it, it's extremely cold. It's like giving frost bite to someone. It is much colder than the 'over the counter' wart/verruca removers.
It would be quick as far as we are concerned but not for her, and at that age not a nice experience at all!!!!!
My DS had a wart on his finger and my GP said no way and he is 12. I stuck with it and it has started to go now.
Warts and verrucas are a real nuisance but they will go eventually.0 -

They won't do much at that age either. My DD went and all he did was scrap it back with a scalpel blade and then put the gel on. She was 6 when she had a rather persistent verruca.0 -
I had cryo in the drs surgery to take a mole off and was surprised at how painless it was, however I agree with toothsmith to go to chiropodist for this to be sorted.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

I had a lot of warts on my hands and one time, and the doctor used to freeze them. It does hurt, but it's a short intense burst of pain, literally just a few seconds worth.0

No need to see a chiropodist.
Would be very painful for your daughter and might need repeated treatment.0 -
I had this done when i was a child and found it very painful. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

I had one done at the chiropodist (well two actually I also had one under my fingernail from picking at the first one!) when I was 15.
It was done with a salacylic acid crystal being dressed against it for a few days. came off with no problem at all. The fingertip was really white when the dressing was taken off though!!How to find a dentist.

I had one cryo-burned off the bottom of my heal when I was a youngster. The hole left behind was much deeper than I expected and it hurt for several days after removal. All warts and veruccas are caused by a virus and they will go on their own eventually but choosing to remove them really depends on how much discomfort they are causing now when walking normally.0

My DD (now 16) had the freeze treatment to one when she was little and still remembers how much it hurt! Another verruca she had on her foot eventually popped out without any intervention. I'd leave it well alone unless it is causing her pain - just remember to keep it covered when she has no shoes on, particularly around swimming pools as they are highly contagious.0
