FOS Complaint

Hi,
I have a PPI claim going through FOS at the moment. I recently claimed on mis-sold PPI on an old car loan I had. It wasn't through a bank, but through showroom finance.
The loan has long since been paid off, and I no longer have the documents relating to the loan or the PPI, although I know I had PPI and it was added to the initial loan, repayable over 3 years. This put my payments up by around £50/month but I was told I had to take it if I wanted the finance.
The original finance company was swallowed up and amalgamated into their parent company and have refuted the claim, hence the FOS involvement.
However, the FOS have written to ask who the PPI underwriter was. I can't remember and don't have the paperwork saying who it was. I found a Credit Gap policy doc for the loan, and I'm sure the PPI was through the same company by I can't be 100% certain.
Does anyone know if - and how - this will affect my claim?
Thanks!

Hi there
If you've not done so yet, contact the business involved who sold you the finance, and request they send you a copy of the PPI policy, I did not receive this policy document with the agreement etc, this is normally requested for separately.
Another way is to request a Subject Access Request (SAR), they should send eveything they still hold on your account, for a charge of £10 payable by either postal order or cheque payment, and comply by 40 days, post by recorded delivery, SAR template below on the link.

Finding out of whom the underwriters are will also depend what year this was taken out, as they may have differed through the years, but there are ways of finding out by doing the above options.
Hope this helps, good luck and please keep us posted.
