We move in a fortnight and the house we are going to has SKY but not Sky +.
My years contract with SKY is up in August so i'm not sure what to do.
A) Pay sky to come and reinstall sky + in the new place
Wait for a month and a half end my subcription with them and take out a new one in my wifes name
any thoughts?

Well... B is fraud - so cant really recommend that one - the offer is available to one per household not one per person.
A would seem your better option - threaten to leave if they cant do it cheap enough and normally the cancellations department is good for getting decent offers from. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

From the Sky website -We'll arrange for an engineer to reconnect you for a small charge. A new minidish and cabling will be installed in your new home and your existing Sky box connected.
As Astaroth says, give them a ring to see how much they'll charge. If it's more than you're willing to pay, say you wish to cancel. They'll put you through to another department who should offer you a reduction in the installation costs.Dave. :wave:0 -
we have done that, we moved out of one house and cancelled and then used another name to reconnect saved us some money aswell, and they cannot be much as fraud as sky send letters in the other name wanting us to come back and that is the address we are at now where there already is a subscription,
check out the prices for signing up to sky on their website and check out the prices it is for moving your subscription which ever is cheaper go for that one,
you could also try ringing them up to cancell and if they ask you why tell them the price is too high for the package and the installation fee is high for the new address, im sure they will nock some off, a family member did this and they didnt charge her for the installation and her package is half-price for 3months then she can ring up if she wants to cancell and they may give her the offer again
(sorry for spelling)

They dont tend to be too hot on fraud - but morally I dont think you should advocate fraud to someone on a website - they do occasionally decide to do a sweep and catch a couple of hundred people to make a show of them to deter others (probably).
A friend got hit by them... he had a laugh about it afterwards... saying he didnt care too much about not having sky anymore seeing as he had to sell his TV to pay the legal costs (plus a fair few other items)

Hi
Have you ever thought of cancelling Sky and getting a pvr, with freeview. Saves you a fortune in the long run.
I don't miss Sky one bit, kids still get their Cbeebies and I get my E4, thats all we use to watch and I use to pay Sky £20mth for that privilege.

well if you split up with your patner and he moves house and he cancells the subscription does this mean that the other still living in the house cannot sign up to sky?, have known a couple of people who have signed up in the Other halfs nameThings that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0

Sky are losing a lot of customers at the moment, so the Customer Service personel are usually in a position to offer you an incentive to stay.
I said I was considering leaving when I really wanted a Sky+ box.
Instead of £199+installation I got it for £99 including installation. I believe some people have got it down to £49.Dave. :wave:0 -

Exactly what I'm doing. Sky+ is good, and very easy to use, but it's not worth the cost of subscription for me. I've seen a PVR recommend in What Vision/Hifi for £150, so am gonna sell my Sky+ box (got it free when I used to work for them) to help reduce the cost.

it's not fraud then is it seeing as they're moving. It's not as though they're claiming he's moved out and she's moved in as a new owner / tennant.
I'd recommend a friend (your sister) at the new address if there are any offers.
