    I dont get it.

You say you fancy the new capital one progress card, and you have had it since feb. Then you ask can you apply for one.

But, if you have had one since Feb why would you now need to apply for one?

I think your post is a little muddled up.
When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.
  • Oh sorry, I ment to say I currently have a capital one classic card, Iv had that since feb. Sorry about that.

  • I wouldn't cancel yours and apply just yet 6 months might be two short.

Its no alot different from the classic.

I would keep yours at least a year b4 trying for the progress.

I assume you have a lack of credit card history so you went for the classic. I would use trthat for 2 years and then apply for something more mainstream than the slightly less subprime progress card since you have a classic card.

What limit did you start with and have you any increases? That would give an idea of how they view you

I'm in the same boat. I have a Capital One Classic, started with £1,000 limit, they pushed it up to £1,500. I've had it since March, no problems.

To apply for the Progress would I need to cancel it as it states current Capital One customers 'please do not apply.'

Existing capital one classic customers would need to close their account and wait six months from the date of closure before applying for the progress card.

It might be an idea to take out an Aqua or Vanuis card, close the Capital One Classic, and after six months or a year apply for the progress card.

With the recent interest rate hike on the Classic account to 39.9% APR, you'd be no worse off with a Vanquis card (39.9%) and better off with an Aqua card (35.9%) anyway.

It's going to be a long time before I can consider a Progress card unfortunately :(

Does anyone know how long Capital One will be keeping the APR at 34.9% for New Classic Card applicants? As I want to apply for one but need to wait until January so that I am registered on the electoral role when I apply.
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
  • I got my a couple of months ago and I am on the same rate so far.

You don't need to wait six months, I closed my Capital One classic account in December 08 and applied for a Capital One platinum CC february 09

    ;)

When did this happen? Nothing's changed on mine! :S
  • Iits happened to most existing customers accross their range of cards everyone has had a hike.

I havee only had my card a couple of months and I haven't had a letter yet but it may be they are holding off on the newest of new customers , that or it stuck on a royalmail depot somewhere.
