Do you keep your cat(s) in at night?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but just wondered whether people tend to keep their cats in at night, particularly as the weather gets colder?
I guess if you have a catflap then the cat will come and go as it pleases, but for our 2 we don't have a CF so we have to let them in and out as and when.
Our two like to be in at night, they're normally ready to come in early evening, eat their food, then the male one (Dave) will go out again for a couple of hours and be wanting to come in again at around 10pm.
Our little girl cat Daisy is a real indoor cat. She likes to pop in and out, but generally prefers being indoors.
I have to say I am glad that they like to stay in at night...think I'd be worrying about them otherwise (soppy sod that I am!)

Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,
You don't even take him seriously,
How am I going to get to heaven?,
When I'm just balanced so precariously..

Tinker comes and goes as she pleases as we dont have a CF, during the day we keep the conservatory door closed now that its cold.
She lets us know she wants out by standing on her back legs and ratting the Door keys in the lock. and keeps on doing it till her staff (my OH and I) let her out. mmmmmmmmmmmm I often wonder who belongs to who.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Our old girl of almost 20 stays in most nights in the winter time, she will stay out in the Summer occasionally... trouble is she now must have a weak bladder lol as she started calling in the early hours 3 or 4am to go out , its a real pain as I have trouble getting back to sleep once awake, but its no good ignoring her as she just wails this terrible noise till one of us gets up.... I really don't want to start having a tray for her to use so I guess I have to put up with it... (we can't have a CF as we have double glazed sliding patio doors)#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Our 2 get into their baskets at about 10, and then dont stir again until I get up for work in the morning - about 6.30amish.
They go out for the day whilst we are at work (unless the weather is really awful) and come in again when OH gets home at about 6pm.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
My two come and go as they please, my boy was a stray so he likes to be out and about at night and then sleep all day, my girl spends most of the night taking over my bed.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Mine comes & goes as she likes, no CF yet but she scratches the window to let me know when my services are required. I have noticed now it's colder she's staying in overnight more0

I prefer to keep my 'boss' indoors overnight - least then I can be sure he is safe. He's a geriatric sixteen and a half now, so I like to think of him being indoors in the warm when I am in bed. Can't have a cat flap as too many other cats in the neighbourhood and my old boy is a scaredycat anyway! Unfortunately it does mean I have to keep a litter tray for him as he wouldn't make it through the night without!RIP Marmaduke 04.02.11, MIsty 09.06.12 and Rufus 19.7.24 very, very sadly missed xxx

IN, especially at this tome of year as the farmer has harvested his crop and that brings out the lampers with their lurchers and greyhounds, who struggle to tell the difference between a rabbit and a cat.0

There are far too many dangers outside at night: cars are a danger even though I live in a cul-de-sac with speed-bumps directly outside. I lost a cat in broad daylight to one idiot driver. Plus, this area, even though an urban one is absolutely alive with foxes at night. My boy is absolutely not going out there. No way0

Mine do come and go as they please. We have a cat flap, but usually by the morning they are both curled up at the bottom of our bed.
I did find that with all the cats I have had in the past, as they got into their 'later years' they prefered to stay in at night.0 -
Foxes are no risk to cats & there's less cars at night, tho i'm lucky to live quite a way from a road with a cat that doesn't even go close to it0
