Returning to BT

So let me get this right! I am currently with NTL for phone and broadband. I don't agree with them taking jobs out of the UK so will ditch them. I have existing BT lines still coming to my house. From what I can gather, I have to get BT back and then I can choose another provider for both phone and internet such as Talk Talk or whomever. Will I be charged by BT for reconnection? Will I have to be with BT for a minimum period. Do I just ask for the basic package from BT and use add ons or whatever they are called? Can I get BT to reconnect and then tell them to !!!!!! off I am going to talk talk?
It's only my opinion but it seems like some companies make it so difficult that you want to give up. I don't so give me some answers so I can get on with it please. One other thing, I may be a genius at some things such as tiddlywinks but please understand that you are talking to a complete duffer when it comes to other things. Plain language please. Sorry if this has all been covered before, I have read a lot of the stuff but am still baffled.

They have a special service for returning customers. Ring them on 0808 100 5152.
Here's their fact sheet:

You can arrange it all online.
Basically, if the line is physically in place they will reconnect you for free. If they need to do work you may get charged.
I think there is a minimum term that you have to stay with them for your line rental (12 months?).I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If wiring exists and you get free connection the min term with BT is 3 months.Dont get involved with any special offers with BT just ask to go on opt1.
For cheap landline calls use https://www.1899.com for peak calls.,and Primus Saver

Thanks to both. I have thanked you officially if you like. I have just done that and it is a three month contract so that isn't so bad. Changes on June 5th and now I will look for a change of ISP. Another mine field by the look of it. Thanks again. :beer:Don't buy the Sun.0

The three month contract does that include calls through BT ?
I had my line reinstated 2 weeks ago and have just signed up online for Primus option 2 and 18185 . Just wondering if it will go through for the CPS ?0 -
No. Only for the line rental.jimbo19 wrote:The three month contract does that include calls through BT ?

Primus should be able to tell you when your CPS goes live - give them a ring.
Don't forget https://www.call1899.co.uk is cheaper for weekday daytime UK 01/02 calls (3p each, regardless of duration).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
