Replacing roof slates

Hello,
I'd like some advice on replacing some roof slates.
A few slates appear to have slipped on my roof and need replacing. I don't want a new roof but before I start making any phone calls I'd like to know if this is something a roofing company would consider doing and what sort of price I could expect to pay.
I was tempted to try & do it myself but I'm not too keen on clambering around on the roof!:undecided
Thanks

The traditional repair for this sort of problem in slate roofs is the use of copper "tingles", which are flat sheet hooks, which are hooked over the slating batten and then support the bottom of the slate. You just see the bottom of the tingle, about one inch square.
It's possible to do this yourself, but be VERY carefull on roofs.
For a proffessional job, there will be traditional roofing contractors in your area, but as usual the good ones may be difficult to find.Neil0 -
Yeah, that's the way to repair them.Be careful though 'cos unscrupulous roofing firms will tell you that the roof is shot and needs replacing.A reputable company will repair the damaged ones for you.As for cost,i wouldn't like to guess.0

Thanks for the info
I'm familiar with the 'tingles' method but I definately don't want to get up on the roof, it's far too high for me!!!
Thanks anyway0
