Rerecording to DVD or CD

Hi I don't know if anyone can help.
On my old pc, (millenium os) I used to be able to send photos to a cd then leave the disc and go back days or weeks later and top the cd till it was full (this was r and rw).
Now I have XP machines they only seem to allow me to write once to the disc (although RW discs can be formatted and re used).
Anyone else got over this problem?

In nero you have to say you want to make a compilation else it will be one shot only. Also make sure the option to finalise the disc is not checked.0
