Barclays and my ID

I am fuming with this bank!! And I have put a complaint in over the phone, and they are going to respond within 5 days... apparently.

I had to move my old house due to domestic violence with a real fear for my life, I went into the new town's branch and told them of my new address in May. That was fine all statements came to new address.

Then I went in 4 weeks ago to give them my new surname with the proof of Change of Deeds docs I told the advisor the reasons for everything so she knew the severity... they said I could have a new chip n pin card oh and they sold me house insurance.

Firstly, my pin number got redirected from my old address (the new occupants know this address and have been informed of the seriousness of giving it out) and I rang the bank to tell them, they said that if I didnt have a new card to contact them. I went into a branch last Friday and told them that I needed the card and to ensure that it got sent to the correct add.. the young lass said it would get sorted and took my home phone number if there were problems. !!!!!! me, this morning I had a statement redirected from my old address to here and it had my new surname on it!!!

I rang them this morning and as soon as I said there was a complaint the chap made out he couldnt hear me and put the phone down on me, oh wishing me a great day!! So I tried this aft, I told the woman everything and when I told her I could be killed if anyone had got hold of that letter with all my ID on it, and she asked me why would someone want to hurt me!!! I said, oh my god, that is personal....

Sorry for long post, I am just so angry that they cant get anything right.... Any idea's gratefully received

Why not just let Barclays sort it out? There obviously has been an error which needs correcting? I am not sure what other advice you need? If your unhappy with the response to your complaint they will advise you how to take it further.

    I could be killed

Certainly makes a refreshing change from "what if a child...".

You told Barclays that you had a new surname, you gave them proof of ID, and so they used your new surname when sending you correspondence - what were you expecting them to do?
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Send it to the right address. I had told them of the new address and they sent correspondence to this ok since May, and then when I have changed my name they have gone back to using the old address. The only change they had to do was the name.. I told the advisor why I'd had to change my name.
