JSA address issues

Hi,

This might be a slightly unusual question.

I am a recently graduated student still searching for a job which is proving difficult, as I understand it I am entitled to JSA from the date that I finished uni, I have records of applications/interviews etc...

The issue I have is that I have no fixed address, my parents live abroad in Spain, and I am currently sleeping at my girlfriends house while I search for a job. She is a student and therefore pays no council tax (Will she have to pay if I claim?). I pay no rent, and am not registered as living here.

Is there any reason why I couldn't/shouldn't use this address to claim? Any way around this?

Cheers for your help.
Trevor

Sounds like you are living as a couple ...

How long have you lived there?

Do you share bills - food, utilities etc?
    Gone ... or have I?

If you are living there you should be registered as such and claiming from there.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!
  • I have paid my share of food and bills whilst here yes, but I'm not living here, I've only been here 2 weeks.
I've spent most of my time staying at my rented accomodation for last year of uni for which the lease has now run out, or at my sisters, but again I wasn't living there as such.

If and when I find a job, I will find my own place.

Based on the information given, you are living together, and should claim as such. You will need to advise the JCP of your living arrangements, and they will decide if your claim should be a single or joint claim.

But while you are signing on you are living with her yes?
  • Possibly, to be honest I do not know how long I will be staying here. I could move elsewhere.

I havent a lot of patience with people like you.

She is your girlfiend, you said so.

Your are sleeping there, you said so, you are eating there, you said so.

You are living there, full stop,

Either you're dim or you think we are.

Claim as a couple and stop trying to milk the system or move elsewhere.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
