LTSB Credit Card PPI

Hi
I sent the step 1 letter on 01/09/09 to reclaim PPI on my Lloyds credit card, stating that as per the template that I wished for this to be concluded in 8 weeks.
Since then they have sent me two generic letters telling me the matter was being investigated. I assume that this is playing for time.
In the first letter they did express their sorrow that I was not happy and advised me that I could cancel the insurance at any time which I have not done so far as I am not sure where this leaves me in relation to the claim.
It is now 7 weeks since I sent the first letter and although they may well be in contact in the next week I am curious to know if this has happened with others claiming from LTSB.

    Hello and welcome.;)

Yes this is the norm for Lloyds TSB.

Hopefully they will get back to you soon with an hopeful result, and once the 8 weeks have passed, if you've heard nothing, then you can if you want to move this on to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Good luck and please keep us posted, cheers.

  • Hi
LTSB have replied at last.but I think they have spun me a weird one.
My complaint was that they had missold me on the basis that I was in the process of becoming self employed at the time (spring 2002) and have been ever since.

LTSB now state as their reason for refusal is that as a self employed person I am in fact completely eligible for the benefits of the policy.

This is despite the fact that when I applied a couple of months ago to gain said benefits, the very first question they asked me was if I was self employed and upon my confirming this they immediately told me I was ineligible.

No mention of any mistake being made or invitation to cancel was made at the time.
I have been out of work for over 12 months now and have received no benefit from the policy.

Somethings wrong here but i'm not sure what it is.

    Cheers

    Hi there

If this was the first response, I would write back to them and explain all this, they should give you another opportunity to write back to them.

I would also ask them to explain this in more detail, as you feel something this is not right, then see what they come back with.

Of course if they have confirmed this is the final decision, move on to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), good luck please let us know how you get on.;)

I would also cancel the policy as it is of no use to you and cancelling will not be detrimental to any claim you decide to pursue.
