Ahhhh! Account reserves

I bought a Hp laptop from the hp site at a cost of £719.10, but the order was rejected because the address wasn't entered correctly ooops! Anyway hp slapped a reserve on my account for this amount for over 3wks, rang the bank who stated they needed some sort of confirmation the order was rejected but hp told me they had no paper or fax facilities and so couldn't fax my bank or post me this confirmation. As a goodwill gesture they said they would give me an additonal £30 off the cost of the laptop if I decided to reorder which I did, this time via a sales advisor, he then told me my laptop would be delivered next day or day after:j woohoo! Took the day off work and got an email on the 2nd day at 4pm stating the order had been rejected once again. Rang hp who couldn't explain why this had happened (all details were correct and sufficient funds in account). This time a reserve of £719.10 was put on my account for just over 2wks even though the order was rejected. Have now had to apply for an overdraft which I am being charged for. Hp have had a reserve on my account for almost 6wks now, am I entitled to compensation for this, been onto trading standards who inform me its breach of contract, sent Hp a letter recorded delivery and still no reply from them, Don't know what to do now?

    Demand it is sorted now.

HP simply need to contact their payment services and ask them to liase with our bank to sort it.

Alternatively kick up a fuss with your bank. They shouldnt do it but they can manually reverse these if you are convincing that it is an error.
