Halifax Cashback points cancelled

If you have an old Halifax Credit card that gives Cashback, you'll probably find that the rate has dropped from 1% to 0.25%. That's bad enough, but each September they cancel your cashback points if you haven't earned more than 1000 points (£10). Looking at the September statement, they don't seem to even calculate the September points - they just show that you've earned a negative number of points and your balance is now zero.
I wonder where all those points go - maybe a bonus for whoever amended their terms & conditions?
Does anyone know whether the same happens with charity cards - do the credit card companies grab back the points earned by any customer who didn't spend enough?
0.25% is bad enough, but to find that it's only calculated for 11 months and then deleted - really annoying, and I won't be using that Halifax card in future.
Martin says it's better to get the cashback yourself and then give that to charity, but the current system seems to be that I give the cashback to Halifax.
Apparently Halifax have 12 cashback systems. They don't seem to have the same rules for all systems. The cashback details are not shown on the online account, so it is not easy to find out which rules your account is using.

I have a Halifax cashback card too (the 2% on groceries & petrol one). Does anyone know if you have to ring up to get the cashback? I just assumed it would automatically be paid like some of the other cards I have had. I don't want to loose the cashback I've earned so far!0

Cashback if you dont earn enough points for the bottom award you dont recieve anything they are wiped clean and you start again. not 100% sure if its on anniversary of your account or a set month every year( not been in customer service in some time)
Your right the cards do have different cash back scheme mostly tied to old accounts that were on tiered cashback, ie spend X amount and your cashback is X and so on.
Assuming other cards as probably the same its just another way to stiff it to the little people. they drop the schemes on most cards so they are really quite poor, They way they get around it is change the terms and conditions to cover themselves...
Rates been 0.25 for a bit on most cards btw......
im sure there are some links for the best cashback cards about, each going to have limitations.

Halifax changed the rules on cashback about 12 months ago and unless you have 1000 (£10) points you get nothing and it is always rounded down to the nearest £5.
For the 2% cashback card you should just see the cashback on your statement. Any questions just give customer services a call and they should be able to tell you on exactly what statements it will show on.0
