minimum payment

Hoping someone can give me some advice! I have a student credit card with natwest, which I have a direct debit for the minimum payment every month, which I have never missed. However, when I checked my statement (which I hadnt done for a very long time....) I'm now over my credit limit due to charges for not paying enough off?! I thought the whole point of the minimum payment was that it kept you within your credit limit and avoided fines? I'm confused!

Give them a ring - sounds like a foul up somewhere along the line.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
  • Thing is, all the post goes to my parents, and I'm scared (pathetic I know) that they might have sent me a letter somewhere along the line, that I've missed? Can they just change things without your agreement?

If you dig out the paperwork you signed when you took out the card, you'll see that NatWest reserves the right to vary its Ts & Cs. This applies to all credit cards btw, not just NatWest.

Not checking your monthly statements is asking for trouble, isn't it?

If you register your details on NatWest's website, you can check your statements online and keep track of your spending. There's no need for anyone with a pc to rely on postal statements ;)
