Post Office package

I have been trying to cancel my homefone since september2009, i took it out in september 2008 and it was 12 month contract, which i assumed it would be any way!! However I now find out that s i moved half way through the contract and took the service with me, they extended it without verbally telling me. Apparently they sent me a letter which said the contract would be extended ( This is put at the bottom they say).
Now is there any policy or legislation that say's all contracts have to be verbally agreed?

Basically, they cannot apply a contract without your agreement, but your agreement could just be not saying No. It all hinges on wheter you can find the letter confirming the service was being moved and what that says. I think I would deny the contract extension and tell them to produce a copy of the letter in question.

And I did think Post Office were just monthly?

Aparently with me moving house and taking the service with me, I had to extend the service, but i wasn't informed verbally. Now they are saying that it doesn't matter as its all in my T&C when the contract was first opened back in 2008. I asked them to listen to the call and they re saying they dont keep records as fr back as march 2009. Which I find quite strange.

This sounds like your broadband - the homephone doesn't have any long term contract.

If it is your bb, then you will have agreed to the ts + cs when first taking the bb, and this does include entering a new minimum period contract if you move house.

By moving, you effectively restarted your contract, and because you did so did not suffer any cost increase or renecotiation of terms. The practice is standard across the interest, and any major change in service will always restart the clock, and this is stated in their Terms and Conditions.

The alternative would have been to terminatr (early) and pay the early cancellation fees, and restart a new contract and the new rate, along with its 12 month minimum term. Because you retained their service when moving, you avoided this, but the minimum term still applies. Nothing tgo do with 'verbal contracts' - is is part of their terms of service you agreed to.

I doubt it, bearing in mind its written into the ts + cs which you agreed to originally.

Those conditions don't mention anything about getting further verbal agreements.
