Make-up tips for pale ladies please

Recently i've had a few comments from people saying i look really tired and pale, starting to annoy me, i think its quite a rude thing to say to someone, basically they are saying i look like XXXX when i feel fine most of the time. I have dark eyes, dark circles, darkish hair and pale skin, i get loads of sleep and know i look quite ill without any makeup on, so always make sure i have my slap on, i avoid eye make up as this can make me look tired, i may be pregnant but i have always looked like this. Recently its been mums in the playground that have never spoke to me before, great first conversation don't you think?

I can't get on with fake tanning, too much effort and its always too dark, those gradual tanners for the face make me even more spotty, I have various foundations and haven't put the comments down to a certain one that i wear that makes me look pale, if i try and buy a darker shade it just doesn't blend well. I have various blushers but have to make sure they aren't too dark. I hate my photo being taken because i always look so ill, so i must look like that in real life, when i look in the mirror i don't think i look ill.

I'm wondering if i need to have some blonde highlights? i have black eyebrows though. Do i need to start having regular spray tans and look like i've been tangoed? Or is there some products i don't know about?

Tell me what your secret products are please pretty please......

Hi, I'm really pale too, with pink undertones so I actually look blueish:rotfl:I am a fake tan fan but you have to find the right product for you and yes, it requires upkeep you certainly do not have to pay out for regular spray tans, there is a long thread on here if you are interested heres the link http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1621869&highlight= I would also suggest Maybelline dream liquid foundation, gives a nice glow and invest in some pink/brown blusher I mix two MAC Strada and Bourjois pink matte one (sorry cant remember name) also check your iron levels, low levels can make you look washed out and of course as always drink plenty of water, my daughter has dark circles and notices a huge difference when she has 2 or 3 smoothies a day - hth:)

Sorry, on a roll now;)secret products that make you look better that I like are, Estee Lauder Spotlight and virtually the same product MAC strobe cream both give an inner glow, you apply as a base under foundation or it can be used on its own, another inner glow product I just remembered is NARS blusher in Nico, a virtually no colour product that adds a certain something, I'm sure you can get a similar one by bourjois but would have to look at their range to tell you which one, oh and ignore the mums in the playground, watch them come and talk to you when you feel great so they wouldn't be much of a friend anyway;)

There is also a good make up range called Dainty Doll on ASOS for very pale colouring:)

  • I think it might be your lack of eye make-up that's making you look a bit washed-out. Why not consider using just one shade of foundation warmer than the shade you use now or perhaps a touch of blusher to warm things up if you don't want to use a little colour on your eyes?

I'm really pale too. Wearing a blusher which suits your skin tone will help but don't put too much on or you'll end up looking like Aunt Sally. :o

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm pale, and often (pre make up) look a bit ill. If I want a no make up look and no colour on eyes I use Benefits lemon aid and boing (one goes under the eye they other over) and a bit of highighter...Touche eclat, sometimes more benefit.the pink gloopy one. I also find (another benefit) product, benetint, good for natural cheek colour: I use it on my lips too, it mkes everythig tie in well...Origins did one, do they still? Called pinch your cheeks, which was in a tiny tube: I loved the colour but find benetint easier to control and very, very MSE, the bottle lasts seemingly forever!

I enjoy being pale, I do not enjoy looking unhealthy! To do the above in addition to pehaps a litttle tinter moisturiser/foundation would take well under five munites, perhaps two minutes. Good skin care might also help significantly. :)
  • I am really pale too, but i have blonde hair, (not natural) and i can't go anywhere without my bronzer, i learnt alot of great tips from watching youtube clips.

    I'm naturally deathly pale too.

I use a warm toned blusher and a very pale although warm toned foundation. I can't go out without make up, someone will always ask if I am feeling OK and yes it is really depressing.

I'll second the good skincare suggestion -I used to have to use concealer on my dark circles but I have finally found an eye product that has reduced them noticeably for me - something I didn't think was possible so ordinary foundation now covers them.
  • I'm also really pale with blond hair and dark undereye circles and I use Collection 2000 bronzer (their palest colour). It's only a couple of quid but looks much better than others I've tried! Not too shimmery and not too grubby looking.

I'd suggest that you visit a department store and have a makeover with one (or more!) make-up brands such as Prescriptives, Clinique or any other you like.

    Ask for their recommendations on:

    1. Under-eye concealer. Depending on your skin tone, a pink or yellow concealer can work wonders on dark circles.

    2. Blusher - for pale skins a tone of red, rather than terracotta/brown can look much more alive.

    3. Lip colour - if you're over 25, and don't have naturally flushed lips, a nice moisture lippy or gloss can give definition. Just make sure it goes with your skin tone!

    4. Eye liner and mascara, just on the top lid if you don't want to accentuate under-eye circles. You can also use a little bit of your blusher in the centre of your eyelids if you don't like eye shadow.

After the consultation, you don't have to buy everything they've shown you - just make note of the colours and look for similar products in Boots or Superdrug! :D
    Cogito, ergo sum.
  • I am assuming that your most recent bloods are normal - anaemia is so common in pregnancy, it's always worth mentioning in case it's crept up on you.

I tend to use L'oreal professionel foundation with a touch of concealer under the eyes, a pale matt rose blush from clinique as a base eye shadow, then a touch of choccy brown on the outer edge, mascara and eyeliner, together with light lip gloss. Seems to work for me.

And the mums might be just trying to help - it's easy to notice things in the playground that might not be spotted by someone in a closer relationship. It's the same way that a mum spotting chickenpox would mention it to you, or you can spot that someone's bump has dropped, or their ankles are so swollen, it's possible they have pre eclampsia developing. It's not meant to upset you or offend you, so try to let it go if you are certain that you aren't actually showing symptoms of illness that they are trying to warn you about.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
