Your post made me all gooey and reminiscent!!! You are absolutely right. We hardly ever had presents for Christmas but it was never an issue. We all had a lovely time having a beautiful dinner and then playing games until bed time. Very fond memories :)

No XBOX or latest Nokia phone for you aged 11 at Christmas then?

    Sorry, I sound very cynical don't I?

Looking Ahead I agree so much, my husband and i believe that quality time is the most important thing - cheesy I know but true. Our boys are actually quite unmaterialistic for kids in the age of having everything. They love to go on adventures ( walks) with us, we have just got them a free stepometer each from the freebies site and have bought a flask and they think its fab being at the top of a huge hill drinking nice hot coffee. My husband and i both grew up with skint parents but have such lovely memories of our childhood so we know we don't need to splash out, just every now and then I just can't resist splurging on the kids because they don't take things for granted and appreciate things so much.

We're doing a carboot on saturday and have about 10 big boxes full of as new toys etc so hopefully that will bring in enough money for spends on our holiday this summer.

Thanks for all you kind words, it acutally feels nice to be back and already I'm thinking about everyway to save money.

I've just gone and done all my rpoints, pigsback and freefiver searchs and also been on quidco. Quidco had some fab news waiting for me, (i haven't checked it for ages). My husband opened an Alliance and Leicester account through Quidco and the were meant to give him £50 for it and it tracked as £0 so we emailed them and the tracked it at £30 but it was still meant to be £50 so we emaied them again and they have now tracked £50 and £30 by mistake so we don't just get £50 for nothing we get £80!!!!!!!!!!! It is good to be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi there sweetheart,

So glad to see you back and happy - stick with it! I'm a bit wobbly at the moment also and need to post a big update (its on its way!) so I know how you are feeling.

You have such a happy loving family and that's all that matters.

If you feel guilty about the clothes, could you return them? Or could you pay for them out of car boot takings and throw that £100 allocated to your debts? Might make you feel better.

I'm so glad you are back and I look forward to being on our debt free journey together!

Thanks SS I could prob send them back when they arrive. £50 of them are xmas pressies ( early I know but they are in a sale and I love them so xmas I'll get them) and we have money allocated for xmas but the rest maybe should be returned.

Have just been on phone to OH and we both feel a little kicked in the teeth. When we joined the site we did everything possible to sort ourselves out and felt so great. When we started making quite a bit extra income we decided that we would half all extra money, 50% for house improvements and things that we need/ want and for us just to blow and the other 50% for debt. This has worked great as we don't feel we are missing out but we're also over paying big style our debts. The in april when the money really started coming in we got £1000 worth of bills we were not expecting. (we moved Gas and Elec suppliers for a better deal but they said our direct debit hadn't covered it all and sent us a bill of £350, we had both cars in the garage for another £500, my mums 60th £50, I had to visit home for the first time in 18months £190, our water bill has gone up to £50 a month, everything seemed to cost so much.) So we now have about another £600 on top of our debts.

Why is it that when you just get on your feet something ( or everything) knocks you back down again?

    Welcome back Batgirl. :hello:

If you are feeling that the end is near (of your debts) and that the motivation to keep fighting has gone, why dont you set yourself some little goals?

Maybe if you try really hard and reward yourself when you reach the goals then it will still be challenging and fun?

Oh and being on here I'm sure will help.
