before you buy any brand first check out how much it's gonna cost you for consumables, some deals look very good untill you have to replace the inkjet cartridges.

Have I just dropped a clanger  bought a Lexmark Z617 printer from Morrissons 24.99 and am pleased with it but just looking up the prices for ink,
Lexmark high res Black Inkjet cartridge no 17- 12.89.
Lexmark high res Colour inkjet cartridge no 27- 13.89. (cant find pounds sound its not working!)
    This was from cartridge monkey.
So 26.78 for both more than the printer costs!.
Please tell me they can be bought cheaper.

    my 2 cents

the more things it can do, the more can go wrong with it.

I've been using a Canon PIXMA iP100 for about a year now, and it's been faultless.

better still, if you shop around you can get refills for just over a pound each :)
what more could you ask ;)

A 3 in one is an excellent chioce.
    I thoroughly recommend them.
I have never looked back since getting mine.
Make sure it has a photo printer though.
Your average printer will not print out photo quality snaps onto glossy paper.

Check out the speeds for printing.
The greater the print-outs per minute the better.

Prices may start from £99.99 though, way over your budget.

Check out what the others have been saying though about the differences between buying inks and those containing heds plus inks.

    I use Lexmark.
I had a Lexmark printer only before and was very happy with it hence I went for them again.
I recommend you buy from experience as I did.
They use single cartridges for all purposes - I lie. Black for black & white. Colour is obvious.
Other manufacturers confuse you with 3-6 colour stuff.
Tot them all together and you find that brand new they all cost near enough the same as the originals.

    I do not recommend refills.

    Yep,
3 in one's give that professional edge to all works.

If it is just personal, a printer will do.

Make sure equally your 3-1 is a standalone copier too - this allows you to make photocopies without your pc being on.

For compatible cartridges, like the poster above I can also recommend North Devon Computers.

Cost me £2.73 for a set of carts for my sister's old Epson Stylus Color 600, including 1st class delivery and the item arrived before something I ordered on the same day from Dabs, postage from Dabs was £3.24

    Fairly good quality printouts too.

Wouldnt buy a Lexmark, cost too much to run and dont last long. Epson all the way

    Prozak,
The majority appear to be in favour of you getting an Epsom, buddy.
Think you should go with the flow.

Again I lied about all-in-one's starting from £99.99.
That I realised after I posted for the speedier spec.
You can in fact get an all-in-one for as little as £59.99. (£49.99 is possible on special offers or if you shop around)

    Scan documents,
    Print documents
    &
    Use as a standalone printer.

    Kilty,
I will happily recommend a Lexmark anyday.
The only reason I changed was because I wanted a printer that could print out photo's.
My Z11 did not have the facilities to hold a photo ink cartridge, I still have it and intend to give it away to a relative abroad.
    &
Lexmark all-in-one's can be bought as little as £60.
Like all other people I do agree Lexmark print cartridges are a little pricey.

Hope no feelings in my mentions, Kilty. Just defending my own  .
