Egg mis-sold ppi - advice please

I first took out an egg credit card in may 2003 online, dont remember if there was ppi involved. I then took out an egg loan in Feb 2005 for around £9500 + interest with PPI orignally applying online but completing via phone but have since gotten rid of the paperwork. In July 2005 this loan was topped up via online request and completed over the phone to £11,601 + interest again with PPI, i do however still have the paper work for this agreement.

according to the new agreement there were to be 55 payments of £282.87 which included PPI of £32.06 per month.

I then refinanced this Loan over the phone with Nat West in May 2008 paying the egg loan off in full with the new loan.

What would be the best approach to reclaim mis-sold PPI as i'm sure i can remember not wanting to protect my loan in the initial application but being convinced over the phone to take it out. Also when refinancing with nat west, i mentioned over the phone to the Lady that my loan was currently protected and would want similar protection but was not told of different options that there may be.

any advice would be much appreciated as im not 100% on the best approach to start with, should i get SAR first of all from both EGG and Nat West and then send an initial PPI claim letter or just send an initial letter to both straight away?

Thanks in advance

  • I would just send a letter to egg, i took my loan over the phone with them and was told i would not be given the loan without the ppi, was not advised could buy ppi seperately either, one letter sent to them, got reply 7 days letter saying would hear from them within four weeks, bang on four week deadline got the full ppi amount credited to my loan plus interest, no fuss from them at all

with natwest however i am not so sure it will be so easy, if you had stated that you required the ppi and they still have the call it could be harder to prove this was mis-sold. the real error they may have made here is they should have advised you that you can get seperate ppi cover and it does not need to be with them? maybe give that a shot?

    good luck
