Call Credit Score

Is 590 a bad score with Call Credit?

It seems bad as they rate you out of 999.

I have a 3 star rating which is average but 590 seems quite bad.

Am on the electoral role. Never missed a credit card payment. No fraud or CIFAS information.

Any ideas why is it is so low guys?

When you buy your credit score, usually they explain like: Very poor,Poor,Fair,Good,Exellent. Strong possibly yours is good, because my is 965 and is rank as Excellent, call them ask to explain your score.

PS: Equifax the best is 475 +

You must see smth like that:

Your score of 965 puts you into the Excellent category

Your score is above average – 71% of people have a score lower than Excellent

Call Credit? Who are they? Sounds like a scam.

You don't need them and if you think you do then you REALLY don't need them. Be better to open your window and throw the money outside.

Call credit are a credit reference agency like Experian and Equifax.
However the CRAs scores do not necessarily match any lender and are therefore a waste of money.
Call Credit has less information than the other 2 CRAs so is likely to be even less accurate.

    Stop wasting your money.
I only ever pay £2 for the statutory report or get the free ones.

    Call Credit is a CRA

I get it for free. I don't pay for it!

Just wondering if anyone knows how they marked so low?

    .

Yeah, and ASDA sell fruit and veg and if they shut down we'll all manage just fine.

Keep away from these parasitical companies or 'agencies' unless you are trying to fix a data error/problem.

    They'll just scam you.

Well myself and iereboy get the info for free, so they are not scamming us and I never gave them any payment details and get no spam from them, so I'm really not sure where your info come from Jemma.
Perhaps you can enlighten us as to your source.

I think the point that Jemma-T is making is that the Credit Credit Reference Agencies are private profit making organisations and their primary aim is to extract funds from both the Lenders and the Borrowers.

Some of the talk on here suggests that they have "super powers" and are some sort of overriding body. They are not, they are simply private companies in the same way that Asda & Tesco are.

There really is no reason to pay them any money, and really you only need to deal with them if there are inaccuracies with the data that they are holding about you.

I agree with the first 2 paragraphs.
I make best use of free services, then pay only £2 for statutory report and don't get credit scores.

I'm not sure about the last paragraph though.
I thought the general advice was to check your report now and again.
Personally I would prefer to be proactive and sort out problems up front, rather than find out by rejection, when it might be highly inconvenient and also then leaves and extra credit search. So personally I would prefer to pay about £4 per year, to keep on top of things.

By being pro-active with my finances I have never had ANY problems with fraud, charges, CCAs, auto renewal, PPI etc. so it has stood me in very good stead over the last 25 years.

So I don't agree fully with the last statement, because I think you should proactively check every now and again and that costs £2 once you've exhausted the free options. I don't actually believe they are making huge profits on the satutory reports., although I wouldn't pay for the much more expensive on-line ones.

If anyone is genuinely interested in what might be causing their score to be low I would recommend Equifax.

Now whilst I agree that the score itself is meaningless, especially from Call Credit and Experian, the Equifax score gives a break down of the various aspect of your credit report explaining what is good, what is meh, and what is bad, and what you need to do to correct it.

Don't rely on where the score puts you, the scoring system is different for every creditor, but the advice provided with the score on Equifax is very good IMHO ;)
