Depending on the time of year, the university may be able to help you out...I sent a foreign student (work for the uni as a student ambassador) to a hotel in town...think it was called the Ferry Inn or something...anyhow, they sounded really lovely over the phone, and they seemed to be more or less town centre and very reasonable rates (about £30 p/n). Haven't stayed there or visited, but due to the time of year when this student arrived (start of term) a lot of places were full...they weren't, and like I said seemed very polite and helpful, offering to help show student around and orientate him, get him some food (poor kid hadn't eaten in a good while), etc.

Have you tried TripAdviser? Just a warning, but a lot of b&B's in Aberdeen may work out to be rather expensive - oil capital of Europe and all that!

Still, it's a lovely city, lots to do (*great* shopping).
  • Hi there are lots of B and Bs in Great Western Road which is a great location but everytime I pass most seem fully booked. I think the cheapest option is a Travelodge/Premier Inn type place. The Double Tree Hilton at the beach was doing a Spa weekend for £99 pp for 2 nights and that included breakfast, not sure how that price would be for you. When working I used to book people into Travelodges etc as they gave best value for money, apartments were around £150 per night. I used to use the Spires and again quite good locations. It can be very difficult to get somewhere as there are always business bookings and guys going offshore. I think the hotel the previous post was talking about was the Ferryhill House Hotel but not sure. If I can be of anymore help, let me know. (I live in Aberdeen).

I agree, try and get a cheap travelodge room. There used to be B&Bs in Bon Accord Street which is just off Union Street but still at that end of town. I think Skene House may be the apartments you were talking about, supposed to be very nice. http://www.skene-house.co.uk/ Didn't look at prices but very central for town and very good reviews.

I love Aberdeen, haven't been for a visit for ages though.

The Douglas Hotel in Market Street right in the city centre can be cheap but its abit 'tired' unless they've done it up. You can park in the nearby NCP. The Travelodge in the city centre is not good for parking as the car park is tiny, take the train if you stay there. Nice rooms in there though. There is another Travelodge or Premier Inn on West North Street but I don't know what parking is like there. Nice and central and just across the road from the brilliant Lemon tree venue for live music.

Thanks for all your replies, will have a look through them.
I am not planning to go till next year, but want to book it as I know I will make excuses not to go IE can't afford it etc, And as you know once something is booked, then I will have to save up for it!!!!!

Try the Craibstone Suites- Gorg and central just off Bon accord Square- reasonable rates as well.
Alternatively The Mikasa or Travel Lodge are both central and relatively priced.

5 mins walk from Union Street, fabulous place, lovely hosts and the most amazing cooked breakfasts.

    Highly recommend

  • Do not stay in the Premiertravel inn that overlooks the bypass. Horrendously noisy ended up getting money back. If you want info much better on trip adviser.
