Maybe try this outlook express -> tools -> accounts->mail -> gmail properties ->servers -> then tick or untick "my server requires authentication. and Apply.

this works with some account i manage but not all

    hope it helps

    regards
If it doesn't fit, force it; if it breaks, it needed replacement anyway

I believe you have to go into your gmail account, click settings/Forwarding and POP and make sure it's set to 'enable POP for all mail'

Same thing happened to me a few week ago because I'd neglected to do that.

Sorry for pointing out the obvious if it's something you've already done.

When you go in to check mail settings for the gmail account in outlook express:

on the servers tab make sure---
LOG ON USING SECURE AUTHENTICATION IS UNTICKED

Go to the advanced tab and make sure the authentiction is ON and the ports for gmail are set at---
    OUTGOING SMTP IS PORT 465
INCOMING MAIL POP 3 PORT 995

GMAIL USES DIFFERENT PORTS TO A STANDARD MAIL SERVER..

If this doesnt work then ya should be able to download an auto config file from ya gmail account , double click it and it will reinstall all the settings for you..

Right, been tinkering away and found the following

    "

If you are receiving several prompts to enter your username and
password for POP access, please follow the steps below to resolve the
    problem:

    1. Disable all POP clients you're using to read Gmail messages. (If you

use one at work and one at home, please disable both.)
    2. From the computer on which your POP logins are failing, visit
    http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
    3. Enter your Gmail username and password, and the letters in the
    distorted picture.
    4. Once you have successfully logged in, restart your mail client and
    try to download your mail.
This should remove the captcha blocking your POP client.
    "

have tried it and it worked on all but 1 of the accounts!

Thanks for all your help guys!:T
