Pros/Cons of electric shower?

We've just inherited a Mira electric shower, as our current one is knackered!
But i've heard that although you can get 'instant' hot water, it can use a lot of electricity to do it?
I should also say that our water pressure is very low, and am thinking that I might have to get an water pressure booster of some sort...
Thanks in advance for any help/advice,
Joe

An instant electric shower is usually about 9kWh, at 12-15P/kWH they are expensive to run.
You can use a pump on an electric shower ONLY if the shower is NOT fed direct from the mains. It must be fed from a cold tank.0 -
A 9 or 10 kWh shower uses a lot of power to heat the water but you don't have it running for a long time.
If you were to use an immersion heater to heat your hot water tank again you'd be using a lot of electric and would probably heat more water than you actually needed, the rest going to waste.
Other alternative is from the Central Heating but the water coming from the boiler, probably downstairs has a longer run, so again wasteful. and during the summer you may want lots of showers but may not want to switch the boiler on.
It's all swings and roundabouts but i think for convenience an electric shower is best.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Thanks for the replies!
The boiler is actually in the bathroom, so not too far away from the shower, and is only 7 months old...
Gives us something to think about anyway!
Cheers
