If I where you just put 50-70 quid a month on I never use more than 3/4 of my barclaycard limit as I dont want lenders thinking I max out my cards same with my capital one work that way and pay in full you should be have a cushon b4 hitting you limit.
As you said you hvae a debit card if I hit the 75% of my limit thats what I use then.0 -
UPDATE:
I telephoned on Tuesday 20th October to ask about my credit limit and was told I would definately be receiving an increase. I viewed my estatement today (Tuesday 27th October) and I had received no increase.
So I telephone again today and was told that I had not been given an increase because I had not made a purchase on my second statement. I then re-checked my terms and conditions as advised, and they state an increase in your initial credit limit applies If you make a transaction (other than a refunded purchase) which is applied to your account before your third monthly statement date. This means only ONE purchase is neccessary during the first three months.
So I phoned back again and explained to the advisor who told his manager. She looked at the account and I told her what I had been told, she apologised and said this was wrong. No increase had been given because of the 10p overlimit!
Any amount overlimit for whatever reason puts a block on an increase, but because I had called to explain she overrode this and doubled by credit limit.
So it was only £100, but after I was told I was definately getting an increase, I was not prepared to take no for an answer, just out of principal!0 -
If you phone Capital one can you ask them to increase the limit on their classic credit card, or rather would they be able to tell me if i will get a limit increase within the forseeable future? When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

No. You cannot phone and request an increase, nor can you find out if you are to receive one soon. On the classic card you only receive an increase on your fourth statement, after that the manager told me I would go into the pool with everyone else where people are randomly selected - in other words I will probably never get one!0 -

Ok, my initial credit limited was £250, and on 4th it went up to £500. Im happy enough as im only really using it to build my credit rating. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
To be honest I think you where lucky as you can bark about terms and conditions all you like but you failed your end keeping it within its limit.
If you can't manage a £100 credit card theres not much hope for you in my mind.
I have been using mine each month and paying in full so I should get a nice limit increase on my 4th statement.0 -
I was not barking about anything, nor was I lucky and if you took the time to actually read the thread you will see that I never spent over my credit limit. I was given false information by Capital One, twice. I have been using mine each month and paying in full also.0

I think you are getting the posts mixed up, as I did not say I had a debit card.
Although I do, and a store card0
