Redundancies Imminent - Can I get cover now

Hello
Wonder if someone can help - our company have announced that they will potentially be making some redundancies , the announcement at this stage is just very general but it is likely that those concerned will find out really soon
can i check if it is ok to take out a payment protection plan now or is it likely that benefit would not be payable ?
Thanks

PPI won't pay out if you have prior knowledge of possible redundancies, so it would be chucking away money you can save to put towards the debt** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

most policy applications if not all ask the question about possible knowledge of redundancy0

On the back of this question, I have been thinking of getting sickness/unemployment/redundancy cover @ approx £50 per month.
In my work situation, it's more been a feeling of unrest and one person mentioning she'd heard of restructuring, but no formal mentions of redundancies in more department. No announcements at all. Is cover worth getting or would it be a waste of money?
Any thoughts welcomed.
