  • Where do you get £208 from? Not querying it, just interested.

Can I ask who you are advising and in what capacity? I would strongly recommend that they contact a professional advice service who can act on their behalf with the mortgage company. Many mortgage companies are making out of court agreements which when they get to the courts are being thrown out as way too high - it may well be that is the case.

    £198.45 for a couple and £10 disregard as working = £208.45!
  • If you run their figures through entitledto.com it will give the maximum benefit they would get including help with mortgage interest. It's maximum because the rules on mortgage interest are complicated as other posters have said - entitledto doesn't take that into account, it just assumes they are entitled.
  • I can't believe that somebody is suggesting fostering a child as a means of boosting income!!!!

There are many children desperate for a home who couldn't care less what anyone's motivation is for fostering. There are also many young care leavers needing supported lodgings who have nowhere to go. What matters is the kind of home that's provided rather than someone's reasons for doing so.

As others have said they should seek professional help, The CAB, help the aged, welfare right any of these places give free advice and can help filling in any forms they may have.

Renting a room is an option, we currently rent a room to an overseas student. We don't do it because we need the money but as a means of savings just in case
