hi, i need to do a gift transfer through paypal for £500
if the money comes straight from my bank account to the other person will i/they get charged?
or do i have to transfer the money into my paypal account and then transfer it to the other person so neither of us gets charged?

I think you get charged for just using paypal, so it might just be easier and cheaper to transfer directly into the other persons bank account x0

If it's sent as a gift payment from your Paypal balance or from your bank account there will be no charge.
There is only a charge if you use a credit or debit card to fund the payment. Check the help pages on Paypal to confirm this but I would imagine they would advise you of any charges before you confirm the transaction.0
