i am curious as to why you want to hide where you got their link....
seeing as to enter competitions you have to enter personal details anyways i cant see it being an issue.
besides. they probably want to know where the traffic is coming from as part of market researchBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Theres no problem with the larger sites but some smaller sites don't like entrants from competition sites believing it not to be traffic that would be interested in their product just people entering for the sake of it, however, lots of people find sites they use afterwards when they are entering competitions and also a link to their site in a competition post on mse significantly improves their google rating, there was a big problem recently with this type of thing.
Some sites also disqualify you if they see you have come from a third party site - hth:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
you can try visiting through a proxy server first, this will mask your IP address0

Copy the address and paste it into your taskbar0

Simply hover on the link, right click, copy link location, then left click in address bar and paste. Almost as quick as clicking the link.
That'll give you the same result as if you've clicked the link.
Follow those stages but delete all the extra bumff, like ".asp?WxRtESDSssdssdsdsedfgjssdnm" that'll be the identifying part to MSE.0 -
Thanks everyone, I'll give that a go, it sounds good as I can pick and choose which ones to hide the mse link, as explained its not necessary on all competitions, thanks again:T
Out of interest does anyone know if I can hide my id on a blanket basis, I would like to give this a go if its possible as an experiment to see if it increases my wins or indeed makes any difference at all;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
For pretty much complete anonymity you'd need to access the site through a proxy as was suggested earlier. The problem with that is that the competition site would register the IP as that of the proxy so if someone else used it you would be one and the same as them so I'd suggest you don't do that.
The other thing that potentially shows the site that you have visited before and possibly where from is having their cookie on your computer. To avoid that you'd need to delete it before visiting which would be a PITA. A simpler way would be to use an alternate browser from your normal one and setting it to reject all cookies or alternately clearing all cookies each time before use that way you could copy the url from your usual browser and paste it into the "no cookie" browser removing session id's,affilate info etc. and just using the plain url (ie delete any tat following a ? in it. That may not take you to the correct page every time though).0
