Can HSBC keep the ppi fee repayment?

Im claiming against HSBC on a credit card. Payment could potentially be about £3k. There is an outstanding balance on the card, payments are up to date, on a managed payments scheme. Assuming they pay out, can they force me to apply the payment against my debt with them. I would want to pay something off but also direct the refund to other dents too..
