Can't seem to set up paypal account due to name..

I used to have (and appears i still do) have a paypal account in my maiden name..i thought i had deleted it all but i have just tried opening a new one in my new married name and it has said my email is already registered therefore bringing up my old account..there is no where to chaage my name either..is the only way to start a new one by adding a new email which seems a pain tbh and don't really want to do?

Making a new email address, and therefore a new Paypal account is the easiest way, honestly.

If you want to use the same email (and so Paypal account), you'll have to jump through hoops to prove to them that you've married and changed your name.

Do a quick search on here for 'paypal married name change' and you'll see the probblems people have had! Paypal want to see photo ID. passport, drivers licence, in your new name. They actually want to see more proof than the high streets banks do.

Far easier to get a new email address (it only has to be for Paypal remember), and start again.

It's not that simple, as PayPal will throw a fit when you try and add the same cards/bank accounts.

I had to scan my marriage licence and driver's licence to send to paypal via email and they sorted it out really quickly, to be fair.

Wife is just going through this now - so far had to fax 4 copies of the marriage certificate which has been rejected as too dark and 'only half' which is baffling for a one page document.



Fingers crossed this time will be the charm, are there any other problems we should be worried about.

I could not be bothered with the faff of sending stuff to paypal when I dont make that much and usually spend it rather than withdraw it. So I added my dads bank account on, obv he has the same name as my maiden name so you can do it. I deposit into it and he gives it to me.
