Just hot water (not too hot though :p ) and flannel here for DD's face and mine twice a day. Even at bath time she only has plain water on her face and we use "Funky Farm" bath/shower gel for her body (and mine :o ). No problems here at all, but then I'm always careful as I'm the one with sensitive skin

I only use water on my faces too...and that of my sons. I will only use handmade bath products too as that way i know exactly what goes into them, i know it's all natural and safe! I just wish i could make them myself lol i have a very good friend who makes all mine for me.

I never used wipes on babys bum either......used cotton wool and water right the way through till he came out of nappies. Can be a bit of a nightmare if your out and about so i always kept a damp cloth in the bag for such emergencies! It was very very rare he suffered from nappy rash too! (apart from one really bad case when he'd been staying at his nana's)

Thanks Mamaoba - will check out Boots and also use the Liz Earle toner sparingly... I think in summer the rosewater will be lovely and in winter I will try to get some Aloe Vera and also moisturiser that has shea butter.

Why are cotton pads or buds bad for you? I use them sometimes with a delicate cream cleanser as I can't use water every night (too drying even with Liz Earle cleane & polish)...

    Thanks again ;o)

I have really dry skin and sometimes it gets red patches (maybe more in the winter) - is rosewater good for this? If anyone can recommend somewhere to buy some I'll give it a go... I have heard toner is not somethign I should use for my skin, is this true? I have some that came in a pack from Liz Earle and don't want to waste it but also don't want to use it if it's bad...

    Thank you ;o)

I've got really dry skin too EagerLearner, and I don't use rosewater on it as it makes it worse, as does toner (toner is really for people with a little too much oil in their skin). As I said in an earlier post, I use E45 facewash or ROC wipes, I have found Dermol 500 very good too; it is a cream you put on to dry skin before you wash or shower, or you use it like a soap in your hands with water and it is a moisturising cream too (very moneysaving, and you can get it on prescription too if you have free prescriptions). If you prefer baths Dermon 600, is the bath version.

    Best wishes, Jays

    Edit spelling mistake: Dermol 600

Just water and a microfibre cloth for my two little spuds.

I haven't used soap on my face since I was a child. Allergic to everything !!

Exactly the same as me. I started using a microfibre cloth for my face a couple of months ago and now never use anything on my face (I haven't used soap since I was about 15 but did use cleanser & toner). Now I just moisturise after using the microfibre cloth and my skin looks fine.

I never let my daughter use soap either as she has quite dry skin anyway. She uses a soap replacement from the chemist (similar to E45 cream I think but I can't remember the name of it).

I notice a big difference washing face, body and hair with east coast water to using emids wet stuff. The emids water is much harder and leaves your skin dry so I don't use water on my face much here but the Lincolnshire water is much softer and leaves your skin feeling really nice. Maybe I should bottle some to bring back inland:rolleyes:

There's a lot of truth in your comments on the water - my skin was always better as a child after the 6 weeks hols in cornwall cos of the lovely soft water and I had probs as an adult when I moved back from E. anglia to London.

Isn't it funny how everyone's skin is so different? - Both Johnsons, Dove and E45 bring me up in hives yet it's not the first time I've heard others praise them highly.

Does anyone remember the amber coloured Pears soap? I really like it for washing my hands after really mucky jobs, wouldn't use it on my face but it's a lovely OS product that seems to last for ages.

I bought my dd her first foundation from the Elizabeth Arden counter at Debenhams. I think a good foundation is worth every penny (and pound!) The lady there was really helpful - said not to buy any expensive cleansers and told me the Boots Cucumber range was great for young skin. DD uses the wipes etc to remove the make-up but just a cloth and warm water on school days (shes 16 now and only gets the odd hormonal spot).
As she has very dry skin she never uses soap - even in the bath or shower.

Can I ask, are you using a normal microfibre cloth like I use to wipe the sink? A new one of course!!
