I'd go for Positano just fabulous and so pretty and old style.
Sorrento is nice too but more of a tourist town.
Whole of the Amalfi coast is just beautiful though and everywhere is easy to get to so wherever you base yourself you could visit almost everywhere.
Don't miss a trip to Capri it's beautiful.0 -
Amalfi is so beautiful, I'm sure you'll have a great time in anywhere around there.
One thing to remember though is that it's all built into the cliffs so check how accessible it is where you're staying especially if you're high up and don't like steps! I stayed here - Villa Paolillo, Pogerola - http://www.amalfi-holidays.com/ - when I went which is up above Amalfi itself... about 800 very steep steps above in fact... It was so lovely but a lot of work, though I was definitely a lot fitter when I left!0 -
Positano and Amalfi are prettier than Sorrento, but also very expensive. If money is no object I would choose Positano. If you want to visit places in the Bay of Naples as well as the Amalfi coast Sorrento has better transport links. My favourite place in the region is Cilento which is quieter, much cheeper and has the good beaches that the Amalfi coast lacks. You could then do day trips to Amalfi, Positano etc. by boat, bus or hire-car.0
