28 day exchange rule

Can anyone help me please? Husband was given a remote controlled helictoper purchased from Maplins. He didn't want it (it would only fly for 8 minutes) so by the time he'd obtained the receipt, the 28 days had expired. Maplins are saying he is stuck with it - they won't even exchange it for anything else. Is this right ?

8 minutes sounds quite good in these wee machines. The batteries are pretty small to keep size ane weight down.0

Sounds fair to me.
And that's from a person that's been banned from a Maplins for complaining to head office!0
